Yanwa fried chicken, a special flavor in Weixi County
Shangri-lanews 2018-12-25 11:26:13

In Weixi County, there is a famous dish called Yanwa Fried Chicken. And the dish is so termed because it originates in the Yanwa village, Baijixun Township.

Yanwa Fried Chicken is an authentic local cuisine. The food materials are all organically grown in the Lancang riverside villages: fowls, papaya, pepper and others. The chicken is fried with walnut oil.

The nutritive effect of the farm chicken is perfectly combined with the color, fragrance and tastes of other ingredients, resulting in chicken dishes of multiple flavors.

In recent years, the Yanwa villagers have opened roadside restaurants near the Weixi-Deqin highway to make their dish better known to tourists.

Of these, the Yisong restaurant is worth mentioning because the owner traveled to Medog County, Tibet to get some special stone pots, making the chicken different from others.

The Medog pot is said to have been artificially carved out of a mica stone that comes from the Namjagbrawa peak, and thus the pot contains trace elements that are good for our body.

Yanwa used to be a key stop on the ancient Tea-Horse Road, but now a village of thriving rural tourism.
