A total of 45 Bai embroidery suits from Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China’s Yunnan Province were displayed in a fashion show during the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention held in London on 21, October (Beijing time). More than 1,000 Chinese and British audiences witnessed the show and were amazed by the ingenious designs combining tradition and modern.

With the theme of “Embroidery Empowering China, Romantic Bai Ethnicity”, the fashion show started in the traditional folk melody of Bai people who mainly dwell in Dali prefecture.

“I feel very delighted when the embroidery works are presented to audience of the United Kingdom,” said Zhang Hanmin, one of the of Bai embroiders attending the show. She said that “Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon” are the four fantastic scenes of Dali, adding that the patterns in those suits showed beautiful views of the prefecture.

“On the one hand, we shall guard and develop traditional craftsmanship. On the other hand, we should also exchange ideas with international designers and absorb fashion elements to revive the traditional embroidery,” she said.
