Yunnan produced 11.03 billion fresh cut flowers and 333 million potted flowers in 2017, according to a news release in Kunming on December 10.

In 2017, the flower planting area in Yunnan reached 1.562 million mu (around 104,133 hectares), and the provincial total output of 50.32 billion yuan accounted for 33.37% of the national total. Yunnan has 2,139 flower enterprises, generating an income of 12.11 billion yuan for local flower growers.

In addition, Yunnan has bred a total of 580 patented new flower varieties, accounting for more than 60% of the novel flower breeds in China. The Yunnan new varieties involve rosa hybrid, clove pink and African daisy.
