Shangri-La City in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has increased its investment the information service sector. Now 99.8% of the poverty-stricken villages in Shangri-La are covered by radio and television signals.

With an investment of 2.11 million yuan, all the 688 villager groups are equipped with a broadcasting set and almost all the 33,178 households have a TV set. As a result, the villages were excluded from the poverty-stricken list.
