The culture of Southwest China’s Yunnan province, including ethnic performances, intangible cultural heritage and paintings, will be shown during the upcoming second China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held from Tuesday to Nov 10 in Shanghai.

There will be three exhibition areas for the performances, interactive activities and art works, according to the Yunnan provincial publicity department, which organizes the events.

With unique ethnic characteristics, the performances will include singing haicaiqiang, a kind of folk song, and playing the hulusheng, a kind of musical instrument, by local Yi ethnic people, who are known for their skill at singing and dancing.  Peacock dancing and zhangha, another kind of folk song, by the Dai ethnic people of Yunnan, also will be presented.

Visitors  can try Yunnan’s puer tea, zharan- a Chinese traditional method for dyeing textiles - paper-cutting and embroidery. They also can appreciate dongbapaintings, a traditional folk art featuring different figures.
