Int’l students in Yunnan share tips against Covid-19
Yunnan Gateway 2020-04-03 11:30:46

So far, China has basically brought the Covid-19 under control. In Kunming, blossoms are here and there, and businesses are trying to regain the momentum. However, our neighbor countries are still fighting hard against the epidemic.

We, reporters at Yunnan Gateway, just interviewed several international students in Yunnan, who shared their tips in fighting the Covid-19 virus.

Guo Xian from Thailand

Hello! My Chinese name is Guo Xian and I`m from Khon Kaen, Thailand. Today I’d like to say something about my living with the Covid-19 in the past months.

It was January, when I was in Hangzhou, east China. I wasn’t sure when it began, but all passers-by wore masks. Back then, I didn't see the epidemic severity.

On my way back to Thailand, I found everyone at the Chinese airport was wearing a mask or protective cloth. They kept the 1-meter distance from each other while queuing.

Landing in Thailand, I was picked up by family members whom I had reminded of wearing masks.

In face of the new virus, we should first care about ourselves, which is also good for our families and friends. Then, wear a mask and wash hands often. Last but not least, stay at home and avoid socializing as much as possible.

SIM SAVDA from Cambodia

My name is SIM SAVDA , a Cambodian at Dali University, west Yunnan.

The Covid-19 is spreading globally, affecting Cambodia and others. I’d like to share with you some tips against the novel virus, which I learned in China.

Disinfect your hands with alcohol or soap. When coughing, cover your mouth with a tissue, elbow or handkerchief.  Stay indoors and avoid the crowds as much as possible.

Steer clear of those with fever, cough, or dyspnoea. Call a doctor if the symptoms fall on anyone around you.

Don't shake hands and greet each other with a Namaste.

Somsy Thongdy from Laos

My name's Somsy Thongdy, a Lao student at Yunnan Normal University.

I had planned a trip around Yunnan after handing in my paper. Due to the epidemic, I mostly stayed in the dorm, going nowhere.

During the stormy days, I had to take my temperature twice a day at the dorm’s management. Eating at the campus canteen, I had online lectures on weekdays.

What impressed me most during the outbreak was in early March, when teachers brought us fruits, vegetables and masks. The school showed its concern for international students.

Finally, I hope Covid-19 will fade away soon. We should wear masks, wash hands often, and avoid the crowds. Good health for all.
