Recent online photos show Jacaranda trees with blue blossoms in south Yunnan's Kaiyuan City, which falls under the juristinction of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. 

With the Yunnnan-Vietanm railway running through, the county-level Kaiyuan city used to be strong in heavy industrials like coal mining, but now it turns more to ecology and tourism.  

Native to tropical and subtropical regions in central and southern American countries, the flowering plant has been planted widely in Asia.
