The China NGO Network for International Exchanges initiated the silk-road joint actions against the Covid-19 in March, calling on the Chinese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide assistance within their capacity to countries in need.

So far, the Chinese NGOs have carried out epidemic-control cooperation with more than 50 countries, donating supplies, sharing experiences and sending volunteers. They also raised a fund of 173 million yuan in total.

Joining hands with 157 social organizations, the Beijing Guanghua Foundation for Design and Development launched the green-ribbon action on March 11, providing material assistance according to the received demands.

On March 15, the nucleic acid testing kits donated to Serbia by the Shenzhen-based Mammoth Foundation and Huada Gene Technology arrived in Dusseldorf, Germany. Via the Consul General of Serbia in Dusseldorf, the goods were delivered to Belgrade by air in the evening.

The Italian company Metechst STG sent the Chinese green-ribbon action an e-mail on April 7, saying the Bedizuré old peoples’ home is in urgent need of supplies. At the request, the green-ribbon took immediate actions. Half a month later, the Chinese donators received photo feedbacks from the Italian home.

So far, the green-ribbon action program has invited in 295 international volunteers, donating epidemic-prevention materials worth 3 million yuan to 18 countries. They included Italy, Iran, Sri Lanka, Russia, Argentina, and others.

Over the past two months, China Foundation for Peace and Development's has offered donation to over 10 countries, including Italy, Spain, Iran, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, South Africa, and Suriname. 

The Tencent Pandemic Fund donated 7.7 million pieces of medical materials, while the Beijing Sunshine Charity Foundation raised more than 6 million yuan for Iran's battle against the Covid-19. The money came from over 230,000 donators.

Compared with developed countries in the west, developing countries are densely populated but poorly-equipped in medical facilities, leaving the public vulnerable to the Covid-19 infection. Amid the global war against the pandemic, it is crucial to safeguard the health of those in the less developed nations.

Nepal imposed home isolation on March 24. Four days later, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation joined hands with the Tibet Charity Foundation in setting up 180 hand-washing posts on the streets in south Nepal. Local official said these washing posts with hand sanitizers can help prevent spread of the novel virus.

And the Chinese fund for poverty relief offered free food parcels worth 7 million yuan to the needy children in Ethiopia, Nepal and Myanmar. The food is expected to benefit 15,000 locals by July this year.
