CGTN 2020-06-11 15:29:51

A team of researchers from the Kunming Institute of Botany, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently conducted field research on the Yunnan craigia, a precious and endangered flowering plant native to China.

Threatened by habitat loss, the plant was reduced to less than 10 individuals until 2019, when scientists found a group of 148 plants in the Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

In Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, scientists carefully planted 100 saplings of the Yunnan craigia. With help from local villagers, 48 of the saplings survived. To date, scientists have found a total of 300 wild individuals in China.
