The China National Geography announced recently a list of places which won the title of “China’s Most Beautiful" at a public appraisal organized by the magazine, together with other 34 Chinese media. Among the winners, six are from Yunnan.
Located in northwest Yunnan’s Ninglang County, the Lugu Lake is honored as one of “China’s Most Beautiful Lakes”. Known as "Pearl of the Plateau", the lake is 2,690 meters above sea level and covers an area of about 50 square kilometers. The gorgeous landscape and the mysterious culture of Mosuo people dwelling around the lake always impress tourists.
The Luoping Jiulong Waterfall is on the list of “China's Most Beautiful Waterfalls”. It is the largest among all waterfall groups in China. Located on the Jiulong River, the waterfall is 22 kilometers east of the government seat of Luoping County, Yunnan.
Among the "China’s Most Beautiful Villages ", two are from Yunnan, namely the Honghe Hani villages and the Lijiang Dayan Town.
Sitting in the southern range of Ailao Mountain, the Honghe Hani villages are surrounded by rice terraces with idyllic scenery, which are an embodiment of Hani people’s wisdom and civilization stretching thousands of years.
The Lijiang Dayan Town is located at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain. With a long history and profound culture, it is a beguiling town with scientific layout and harmonious living environment.
Both the Tiger Leaping Gorge on the Jinsha River and the Nu River Grand Canyon were selected as "China's Most Beautiful Gorges".
The Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest in China, consists of three sections, with 18 rapids in total. It is known as one of the most famous canyons in the world for hiking.
Located in northwest Yunnan’s Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, the Nu River Grand Canyon is the longest of its kind in the world, giving visitors a rare glimpse of mysterious, splendid, primitive landscape. (Text from yunnan.cn; photos by Yang Zheng, Chen Fei, Li Qiuming)
