Shangri-lanews 2019-10-21 17:35:00

Shangri-La of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has held a tourism promotion in Shanghai from October 16 to 18, showing the world its fine tourist routes, traditional arts and cultural heritages.

Jointly hosted by governments of Minhang District and Shangri-La City, the promotion meeting was attended by more than 300 travel agencies and media outlets in Shanghai.

The three-day cultural event allowed Shanghai residents to see traditional Tibetan costumes and wonderful performances, with Shangri-La specialties brought to Shanghai residential quarters.

"Seeing the passionate singers and dancers from Shangri-La, I have got the impulse to visit their homeland,” said Shen Juanmei, a Shanghai local. “It must be a pristine realm.”

He Shukun, inheritor of the Naxi traditional papermaking in Diqing, has made friends with two Shanghai natives because of their shared interest in Dongba culture. Shukun wrote some best wishes in the Dongba characters on the hand-made paper and presented to them as little gifts.

"Today we had a better understanding to Shangri-La's tourism resources, and we will bring more tourists to Shangri-La," said Zhang Beiyun, a staff member with the Shanghai-based Leyou travel service.

At present, Shangri-La has 15 A-level scenic areas and over 700 hotels, and 11 direct ait routes have linked the city to Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and more.
